Art Direction and Set Design

I was so fortunate to have been able to art direct and design my first full room photography set at age 24. How freakin’ cool is THAT?! Good thing I had minored in Technical Theater and had taken classes in set design. But still, when I first showed up at the photo shoot and saw the set completely built my first thought was, “Oh my gosh! I can’t believe they thought I knew what I was doing and built this!” And it was all wood walls and such. Thankfully, everything worked out perfect on that shoot! Whew! And then I had the good fortune to work on nine more years of sets after that before moving to California – ah, good times!
